Notice that Derrick is sporting not one, but two chipped teeth in this photo!!!!! He took a pretty big fall on Wednesday night and Thursday was spent driving a little over an hour away to find a dentist. We ended up in this gorgeous dentist office and by gorgeous I mean candles, purple espresso machine, bright colored walls and very clean atmosphere. My first thought was “my mother would absolutely love this” due to the fact that she has panic attacks every time she has to go to the dentist. So after we all freaked out over the dentist office we proceeded to speak broken German to the woman behind the counter just to find out that the doctor was out of the office! She then directed us to the hospital, which ended up to be a wild goose chase. Let me just say that this particular hospital that we ended up at was not the cleanest thing. The smell was enough to knock you off of your feet, people were laying in hospital beds in the hallways and waiting room! After speaking with a German doctor who spoke English he then told us to call a public dentist who could help. A few phone calls were made just to find out that no doctors were in the office to help with this unexpected emergency. Derrick, who wanted to cry by this point, went back inside to speak with the doctor again and begged him to help. After handing over his insurance card and giving his information to the woman at the desk they offered to help. The whole procedure only took an hour (including the wait) and there was zero charge or money paid!!! Needless to say the drive, rat race around the hospital and endless cups of coffee were very well worth it! Derrick now has teeth, thank good was for German health insurance! CHEESY… Aka smile for the camera
